Google Authenticator is an extra layer of two-factor authentication (2FA) that provides enhanced security for your BitTap account. Here’s how you can set up and enable Google Authenticator on BitTap:

Step 1: Download Google Authenticator App

First, you need to download and install the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone. It’s available for:

  • Android: Go to the Google Play Store, search for “Google Authenticator,” and download it.
  • iOS: Go to the App Store, search for “Google Authenticator,” and download it.

Step 2: Log in to Your BitTap Account

Use your credentials to log into your BitTap account. Make sure that you have already set up the basic security settings for your account.

Step 3: Go to Security Settings

After logging in, navigate to Account Settings, and then click on Security Settings. In this section, you will find an option to enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). Choose Google Authenticator as your authentication method.

Step 4: Link Google Authenticator

BitTap will generate a QR code and a backup key:

  • Scan the QR code: Open the Google Authenticator app, tap the “+” sign at the bottom right, and select Scan QR Code. Then, scan the QR code displayed on the BitTap page.
  • Manually enter the key: If you cannot scan the QR code, you can manually enter the key. In Google Authenticator, tap the “+” sign, select Enter a setup key, and input the backup key provided by BitTap.

Step 5: Enter the Google Authenticator Code

The Google Authenticator app will generate a six-digit code. Go back to BitTap’s security settings page and enter the code from Google Authenticator, then click Confirm. This completes the linking process of Google Authenticator with your BitTap account.

Step 6: Save the Backup Key

During the setup, BitTap provides a backup key. Be sure to store this key in a safe place. This key is crucial for recovering your account if you need to reset Google Authenticator or change devices. If you lose this key, you may have trouble accessing your account.

Step 7: Complete the Setup

Once you’ve entered the correct code, Google Authenticator will be successfully enabled for your BitTap account. From now on, every time you log in, you’ll be required to input the six-digit code generated by Google Authenticator in addition to your account password, providing extra protection for your account.

By following these steps, you’ll enhance your account security with Google Authenticator on BitTap.
