If you are unable to use Google Authenticator or need to rebind it, follow these steps to reset your Google Authenticator and secure your account:

1. Reset Using Backup Key

When you first set up Google Authenticator, BitTap provided you with a backup key. If you still have this key, you can easily reset Google Authenticator by following these steps:

  • Download and Install Google Authenticator: If you don’t have the app installed, download it from Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).
  • Open Google Authenticator: In the app, choose to either scan a QR code or manually enter the key.
  • Input Backup Key: Enter the backup key provided by BitTap during the initial setup to rebind Google Authenticator to your account.

2. If You Have Lost the Backup Key

If you no longer have access to the backup key, you will need to contact BitTap customer support for assistance. The reset process usually involves the following steps:

  • Identity Verification: BitTap will require you to provide identity verification details such as ID documents, registered phone number, and other account-related information to confirm your identity.
  • Security Verification: You may be asked to answer security questions or complete other verification methods as per BitTap’s security policies.
  • Reset Two-Factor Authentication: After successfully verifying your identity, the BitTap support team will disable your current Google Authenticator and allow you to set up a new one.

3. Enabling a New Google Authenticator

Once the reset is complete, follow these steps to set up a new Google Authenticator:

  • Log in to Your BitTap Account: Go to the security settings.
  • Enable Google Authenticator: Choose the option to enable Google Authenticator and follow the instructions to bind it to your account.
  • Enter the New Code: Use the new Google Authenticator app to generate a code and input it to verify and complete the setup.

Important Notes:

  • Backup Key: Be sure to save the new backup key when setting up Google Authenticator again, so you can use it in case of future resets.
  • Time Synchronization: Ensure that your device’s time is synced with network time to avoid issues with invalid codes being generated, which may disrupt account access.

By following these steps, you can securely reset and rebind Google Authenticator on your BitTap account.
